Rank in the Google map pack for every service + city combination.
A website is the foundation. Local SEO is what makes it actually climb Google rankings over time. New content every month targeting the search terms your customers actually type. Google Business Profile management. Citation cleanup. Schema optimization. Monthly tracking and reporting. Built specifically for contractor search patterns in Sonoma County.
What local SEO actually is for contractors
For contractors, "local SEO" means three overlapping ranking battles you need to win: the map pack (the 3 business listings that show up with a map), the organic results (the standard blue links underneath), and the "near me" algorithm that serves results based on the user’s location even without a city in the query.
Winning in all three requires a system, not a one-time project. Google’s algorithms update constantly. Your competitors add new reviews, publish new content, and get new citations. If you’re not moving forward, you’re falling behind. Monthly local SEO work keeps you climbing.
What’s included each month
The realistic timeline
I won’t sell you “page 1 in 30 days.” That’s what scammy SEO agencies pitch and it’s almost always a lie. Real local SEO timelines:
- Month 1–2: Foundation work. New content, GBP optimization, citation cleanup. Indexing & crawl improvements. Impressions start climbing.
- Month 3–4: First real ranking wins — long-tail keywords (like "grab bar installation Rincon Valley") start hitting page 1. Map pack appearances increase.
- Month 5–7: Core service terms start moving (like "plumber Santa Rosa"). Map pack appearances become more consistent. Review count compounds alongside.
- Month 8+: Hardest-to-rank terms (highest-volume, most competitive) start landing. Inbound leads from organic search become a consistent channel.
Why it can’t be faster: Google needs to see sustained signal over time. It watches for consistent new content, consistent review growth, consistent GBP activity, and consistent citation signal. Any one of these alone doesn’t move the needle much. All of them over 6+ months — that’s what unlocks real ranking growth.
How it compounds with the rest of the system
Local SEO works best when it’s paired with the rest of Full Contractor OS:
- Your website gets content added every month, so Google sees a growing site and trusts it more.
- Automated reviews give you fresh review signal — Google’s #1 local ranking factor.
- AI phone answering captures the leads your new rankings generate, so the ROI actually shows up in jobs booked instead of missed calls.
- Lead follow-up closes more of those captured leads, so the rankings pay for themselves faster.
This is why we bundle local SEO into Full Contractor OS instead of selling it standalone most of the time. Local SEO without the rest of the stack is slow money. Local SEO with the stack around it is leverage on top of leverage.
What we don’t do
We don’t buy backlinks. We don’t do PBNs (private blog networks). We don’t use AI to spin generic content and publish 50 pages a month that all say the same thing. Those tactics might get you a quick bump and then a brutal drop when Google catches on. Our approach is slower and more durable: real content, real technical SEO, real citations, real reviews.
FAQs
Can I pay for just this?
In most cases, no — because local SEO without a well-built website underneath it is pushing rope. If your current website is solid, we can discuss standalone pricing. If it isn’t, we’ll need to fix the foundation first (see website design).
Do I need to write the blog posts?
No. I write them based on my interviews with you about what you actually do. You review and approve before they publish. If you want to write your own, great — I’ll edit and optimize them.
What if I don’t see results in 6 months?
We’ll have an honest conversation about why. Most of the time, it’s because there’s a specific competitor dominating the space that we need a longer runway to beat. Sometimes it’s because the market is small enough that we’ve already ranked everywhere possible. Either way, you can cancel any month with 30 days notice.
Do you handle Google Ads too?
Not as part of Local SEO — paid ads are a separate conversation. Sometimes they make sense to run alongside (especially early when organic hasn’t kicked in yet). I can quote that separately or point you to a trusted partner.
